Dale Earnhardt Jr started on pole for both the Budweiser shootout and the Daytona 500 but it was Kurt Bush the only Dodge in the field that drove to victory lane in the kick off non points race at Daytona. Kurt was able to backup his victory in the shootout with a win in the first of the Gatorade duel 150 races to set the field for the big race. Jeff Burton was drove to victory in the second of the duel 150 races on Thursday.

The Camping world Truck race was Friday night with and was an emotional win for Michael Waltrip driving to victory lane for the first time in a truck in his number 15.It was 10 years to the day from Michaels first NASCAR victory in the Daytona 500. It was also the 10th anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt.

The Nationwide race was Saturday and for the fourth consecutive time Tony Stewart drove to victory. On a last lap pass Tony Stewart got a push for Landon Casill to beat Clint Bowyer by .007 seconds.

All of these races setup for the big event on Sunday the Daytona 500 and it was once again a great race with story book finish. 20 year Trevor Bayne in only his second Sprint Cup start drove the 21 Wood Brothers car to a win in the Great American Race.
