EBC's semi-metallic Redstuff formulation is a high performance street pad with medium lifetime and a friction level of about 0.3µ steadily rising to 0.33µ at 750ºC. Redstuff is very kind to brake discs and can be used on highway vehicles for high performance and extreme duty use. Redstuff gives longer pad life under extreme road conditions features and benefits:
EBC Markets the RedStuff pad as a race compound. We do not agree with this, as the pads don't seem to hold up under track abuse. We have found that the pads will perform quite well on the track, exhibiting very little fade and great bite characteristics, however they do not have a very good longevity on the track. It is not uncommon to go through an entire set of pads in one Drivers' School. We do not recommend using these pads if you are doing a lot of track events. Look into the Performance Friction pads for Track Pad options.

The EBC Greenstuff pads for the X5 are a little different than the normal Greenstuff pads that we sell for other BMW's.
The 6000 series pads are a heavy duty version of the V4 Greenstuff formulation. The non-asbestos organic formulation is ideal for brake upgrads on SUV and Light Trucks. It offers up to 80% Dust reduction from standard X5 pads!
Being a high temperature stable material, the 6000 series offers superb stopping power under brake loads such as towing or similar conditions where more braking power is needed.
You may experience shorter pad lifetime compared to stock pads or other aftermarket pads, especially if you do a lot of towing. This compound was tested in the LA City Traffic test and average pad lifetime was more than adequate, however keep in mind that this is pad is formulated for low dust applications, so the pad life may suffer.
