Like the AR-10, HJC's AR-11 Helmet is an excellent buy. Those of you who know us personally know that we've been trying to fill the void of the Bieffe Predator ever since Bieffe went out of business. We feel that void has been filled.
What we look for in a helmet is quality materials, light weight, a good fit and a good price. The HJC's deliver on all fronts. Where the cheaper helmets fall short on hardware quality and weight, the HJC delivers, where the Ultra series Bell and Arai helmets fall short is in price.
The difference between the AR-10 and the AR-11 is aerodynamics. The AR-11 is designed more for open-wheeled & open-cockpit racers. The aerodynamics pull stagnant air out of the helmet helping with ventilation.
At half the cost of a PED Arai, this helmet is only .2 lbs heavier (3.4lbs in a Medium size.) We know that lots of people are going to find this helmet a perfect fit for their budget.
How do they get the price so low? They use two different shell sizes to streamline production, then fit different padding thicknesses to make up the different sizes. This is a very common practice in helmet manufacturing. Some people may prefer the fine sizing of a Bell Pro series, or the Arai's, but this is still a great alternative.
