These Headers from Supersprint are state of the Art. 100% Stainless Steel with the flexibility to run Metallic Racing Cats or use the Factory Cats. Because of the design of these Headers, they can be installed without lifting the entire engine up out of the car. They can be installed by simply unfastening the motor mounts and rocking the motor from side to side in order to increase clearance.

We recommend the Racing Catalytic converters because you will get the full benefit of the horsepower increase. If you retain your stock Cats, you'll save money but you will still have a fairly restrictive exhaust system. The Headers alone will help, but the whole system is where you'll see the real power gains.

M5 Customers
You'll need to decide whether you want to run factory or Supersprint Cats. If you're going to run Supersprint Cats, order 786801 and 786802. If you're opting to run factory Catalytic converters, then order 786801 and 786811. You'll need to weld the connecting pipes to your factory cats in order for the system to work.

540 Customers
These headers will work for you as well! They are not dyno tested yet however, so the true nature of their horsepower gain is not yet known. In any event you'll need to make the same choice the M5 customers do (factory or aftermarket cats). If you're planning on running a Superspring exhaust, You'll need to get the connecting pipe 785912 as well. This goes from the Two Catalytic Converters to the single pipe that the 540's rear section uses.

The Exhaust systems for the M5 and 540 are substantial investments, however an excellent way to improve the performance of your car. And every time you go past 4000 rpm, you'll remember why you really bought the exhaust.

Early 540's (1996-1998) have the choice between using an Aluminized Muffler with Stainless piping or a 100% stainless system. What type of muffler you choose designates what connecting pipe setups you can choose from. Late Model 540's can only use these stainless mufflers!

With these 100% Stainless mufflers (785906 & 785968) You need to choose between connecting pipe 785953 which replaces the center resonator and 785943 which utilizes the factory resonator.

For connecting to the rest of the exhaust system, you'll also need connecting pipe 785912.
