Keselowski Gets His First Sprint Cup Win at Talladega!
The Cup Series has a new contender and his name is Brad Keselowski.
In true Talladega tradition, the last lap was a wild ride. After a late race yellow flag, Brad was in 4th place drafting Carl Edwards to try to get by the leading Ryan Newman/Dale Earnhardt train. Midway through the last lap Edwards and Keselowski managed to blow by Newman and Earnhardt – now all Brad had to do was get be Edwards. On the final turn of the race , Carl now in the lead, left a small opening on the inside and Brad went for it. Just as Brad got his nose inside, Carl dropped down to block, just a bit too late. Brad had no option but to hold his course, catching the back corner of Edwards, and sending him flying mid-air -into Newman, and then into the catch fence in a spectacular crash (Video Here). This put Brad in first place with his mentor (and Nationwide car owner) Dale Jr. in a close second, and a heavily damaged Ryan Newman in 3rd! Edwards proved that he never gives up by crawling out of his destroyed car and running by foot over the finish line to the roar of the crowd.
Congratulations to Brad for his well deserved first Cup win! We know this is only the first of many.
