THE HELMET

Extremely hard helmet shell made of carbon- aramid -hybrid fabrics according to aeronautic specifications.

Despite the hardness, the shell is flexible and can absorb large forces and distribute them. A protection, the professional racers, semi-professionals and ambitious pilots can rely on.

THE WEIGHT

During the development of the new SF2 PRO, SCHUBERTH implemented its decade-long, Formula 1 experience. Ready race, the helmet weighs 1,150 grams (2.53 pounds) and is therefore up to 150 grams under the weight of the SF1.

THE VENTILATION

12 air inlets and 6 air outlets provide optimum circulation. The result: 14 liter fresh air per second at 100 km/h.

Besides the additional air inlets, the airflow within the helmet was improved by narrower cheek pads. Thus, you keep cool in all situations.

THE AERODYNAMICS

The interior and exterior design of the helmet shell was developed towards the ideal aerodynamics in intensive test series in wind tunnels.

Result: The SF2 PRO does not produce any lift and demonstrates an even aerodynamic balance due to meticulous precision work.

Formula pilots can custom-fit optimize their SF2 PRO with an aerodynamic kit made of carbon spoilers.

THE VISOR

The three millimeter thick poly-carbonate visor is bullet proof according to the demanding FIA helmet standard. Due to the dual lens system, the visor remains completely fog free.

The two-step one way lock is positioned centrally - thus, the visor always locks symmetrically and therefore securely. There are different visor shades available, with and without mirroring.

For the use in closed racing cars, a half visor as well as a visor without a locking mechanism are planned. As an additional lightweight option, a visor without double lens is available.

INTERIOR FITTING

The inside shell was completely redesigned. Narrower cheek pads make it easier to put on, are exchangeable and can be individually adjusted to different head shapes. At the same time, the new lining shields the pilot against engine noise.

New are the cable ducts, which are integrated in the EPS shell i.e. for the wireless communication with the box. SCHUBERTH uses fire-resistant Nomex® for the lining, the chinstrap with the Double-D fastener, which is mandatory in racing, also consists of fire-resistant Kevlar®.

Not sure which visor is for you?

A 50% tint is the perfect companion for a mixed weather day. The tint is light enough to provide some relief from sunlight without making it unusable on a cloudy afternoon.

Jumping to an 80% tint is the equivalence to a great pair of dark sunglasses. The darker tint provides excellent protection and relief from harsh light on those hot summer afternoons. On the flip slide, the extra darkness of an 80% visor is undesirable in low light conditions.


MORE THAN CLARITY

To meet the demanding FIA helmet standards, the three millimeter thick poly-carbonate visor is actually bullet proof. This added strength is the ultimate protection from flying objects that would normally breach inferior shields.

Felipe Massa experienced the importance of a strong visor during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Without a second to react, a spring struck Massa’s SCHUBERTH on the side of his eye port. He commented later that “Your helmet saved my life, you did a fantastic job.”


VISOR LOCKING

SCHUBERTH Visors feature a centrally positioned two-step lock, ensuring visors always lock symmetrically and therefore securely. The two-step lock system allows drivers to choose how much ventilation enters through the eye port by creating two closed positions.

The first position locks the visor securely while allowing airflow through a small space between the helmet and visor itself. By applying slightly more pressure on the visor clasp, the visor will “click” into the fully locked position. This completely eliminates airflow through the visor opening.

The top of the visor clasp features a ridge right below the eye port, making the ideal location to apply pressure when closing. To open the visor, place your thumb onto the ridge while applying light upward pressure on the bottom of the clip.


VISOR CARE

To keep your visor clean and free of scratches, SCHUBERTH recommends only using SCHUBERTH Visor Cleaner.

To clean, simply wet a clean microfiber cloth with one spray of cleaner. Do not spray cleaner directly onto a visor, as it may get on the helmet itself. The cleaner will not damage the integrity of the helmet, but may discolor the finish if not remove immediately.

A favorite of customers running open cockpit cars, rear spoilers help add some stability to SCHUBERTH helmet. In high wind environments such as a formula car, drivers experience significantly more resistance on their helmets from wind. In these environments, every bit of aerodynamic advantage can make the world of difference.

Commonly used in conjunction with a chin spoiler, rear spoilers help smooth the wind transition at the rear of the helmet, lessening helmet lift. Lessening wind resistance helps protect against strain on a drivers neck, while allowing them focus their energy and attention on driving.

Rear Spoilers can be added to your SCHUBERTH at any time. Adheres with adhesive tape.

A NASCAR scoop is a low profile attachemnt that allows forced air to travel through the six top mounted ventilation holes, directing air over the drivers head and face. Air circulation minimizes potential fogging while adding coolness and comfort.

What makes the NASCAR flat scoop different from the NASCAR scoop?

The hose attachment that extends out of the scoop is flat (parallel) along the helmet. This creates a lower profile and helps accommodate drivers with limited headroom.

Made with formula cars in mind, small air scoops are the ultimate aerodynamic friendly way to funnel fresh air into your SCHUBERTH helmet. Unlike other air scoops that consume a larger surface area, small scoops are sized just bigger than the air vents themselves. Rather than cover multiple vents, these small scoops cover each hole individually, allowing drivers to choose home many they’d like to use. The lower profile of the small scoops result in less air resistance than traditional scoops, creating the perfect add on for open cockpit racers!

It is recommended to add small scoops in a pair to balance out wind resistance. Small scoops adhere with adhesive tape.
